Awesome band from LA, Go West Young Man. They've been buzzing for a while, for good reason. Only disappointment is they have no upcoming shows in the area, according to their myspace. Hype it up people, get them here!

RIP John Hughes

The world has lost a great director in John Hughes today. He died this morning of a heart attack at the age of 59. As a personal fan of his films in the 80's, along with his involvement in the cultural movement influenced by the "brat pack", I am particularly shocked. John Hughes will be sorely missed.

King Rat

I know Indie kids have been buzzing about the new Modest Mouse for a while. After a couple of years, I can say that I'm thrilled to hear some new stuff by the group too. They just released the video for their new song King Rat, directed by Heath Ledger, a person I have always the the utmost respect for as an artist. This newly released video is yet another testament to his talent. Oh, and the song is good too. Enjoy!

Alice in Wonderland

So I've been hearing about this Alice in Wonderland thing for a long time and was a little bit confused at the prospect of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. However, I have been trained by the media to have an unwavering trust in Tim Burton and everything he does so I have adapted the obligatory excitement appropriate for the occasion. A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon the trailer and it. looks. epic. The only thing I'm disappointed about is waiting a whole year until it comes out. Take a look. It will astound you.

On A Side Note...

We love the Crocodiles. Their new song I Wanna Kill makes me dance. Their west coast tour begins August 19 in San Francisco.

Auto-tune the News

So I'm up in Idyllwild and since everything closes with the sun, I'm here blogging. Thank goodness for the free wifi, a rare commodity in towns like these. anyway, back to the point. For those of you who avidly youtube your lives away, as I do, you're probably well aware of this off-beat, novel way of broadcasting national news. Wild Moccasins

So I know it's been a while. I apologize to anyone whose life was completely interrupted by my recent silence. Probably no one. Either way, you should be excited by this band because I am. They're called Wild Moccasins and they're from Houston, TX. Have a listen, it'll make your day better.

So it's Elene here. This will probably be my longest blog post ever unless something monumental happens, which generally doesn't so yah. Longest blog post ever. So starting with my purpose for blogging: my blog will mostly consist of music I find interesting, general media, and every now and again, some of my daily craziness. I am a musician and music enthusiast with the hope that even this miniscule amount of exposure will help some band out one way or another. As for the name, if you don't know already, it's an obscure reference to an obscure movie made in the '90s. If you're a music lover, watch Empire Records. Like, yesterday.
